BUSINESS PERMIT FAQS

1. Where can employees park if on-street or Electric Alley is full?

Overflow parking is available in nearby public facilities, including the Junction Parking Garage, Union Station, and the Ogden Municipal Lot (available after 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday). Additional parking is also available at the WonderBlock Garage. 

 

2. Is parking guaranteed with a permit?

No. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed. Nearby long-term parking options include the Junction Parking Garage, Union Station, the Ogden Municipal Lot (after 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday), and the WonderBlock Garage

3. Where should employees park if permits are not available?

Employees and business owners are encouraged to use the following free parking locations for long-term parking:

  • The Junction Parking Garage

  • Union Station

  • Ogden Municipal Building (Free after 5:00 PM Monday–Friday and all day on weekends)

4. Can employees park on the street?

Employees may park on the street. In managed parking areas, payment is required during enforcement hours. While some on-street locations are free, posted time limits still apply, and vehicles must be moved accordingly.

5. Why are employees encouraged to use off-street parking?

Using off-street parking helps keep convenient on-street spaces available for customers, improving access and turnover for local businesses while reducing congestion in high-demand areas.

6. Where is my business employee parking permit valid?

Business employee parking permits are valid in the 100 and 200 block of Electric Alley

7. Can employees park in Wonderblock?

Yes. The Wonderblock Garage is available for employee parking. This is a paid facility, and monthly permits are available for those interested.

1. How do I apply for a business parking permit?

To apply for a Business Permit, first you must call 801-629-8884 to check eligibility. If eligible you will need to provide the following:

  • Business name and address

  • Designated business administrator contact information

 

2. What information is required to complete the application?

Typically:

  • Business license verification

  • Designated business administrator contact information

3. How long does it take to get approved?

Processing times may vary, but most applications are reviewed the same business day.

4. Is there a cost for business parking permits?

 Rates are established by City ordinance or policy.

USING YOUR PERMIT

1. How does the permit work?

Permits are digital and tied to a vehicle’s license plate. No physical hangtag is required.

 

2. Where can permit holders park?

Permits are valid in city-owned spaces in the 100 & 200 Blocks of Electric Alley

3. Are permits valid all day?

Permits are typically only valid during posted enforcement hours and in designated permit areas.

4. Can employees share permits?

Permits are linked to the vehicle’s license plate and cannot be shared.

OPERATIONS AND COMPLIANCE

1. What happens if a vehicle is not listed on a permit?

Vehicles that are not listed on the permit are subject to standard parking regulations and may be cited.

2. Can permits be used in time-limited customer spaces?

Business parking permits are only valid in the 100 and 200 blocks of Electric Alley.

3. Are permits transferable between businesses?

No. Permits are issued to a specific business and are not transferable.

4. What if my business relocates?

Permit eligibility will be re-evaluated based on the new location.

ENFORCEMENT AND CITATIONS

1. Can permit holders still receive citations?

Yes, if:

  • The vehicle is not registered correctly

  • The vehicle is parked outside permitted areas

  • Other parking regulations are violated

 

2. How do I pay or appeal a citation?

3. When are enforcement hours?

Parking is enforced Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
